The Lord of hosts.
The King of all creation.
The Commander of the armies of heaven.
He is with us.
It’s an amazing truth,
but in some ways it sounds like how my grandfather was “with” General Patton at the Battle of the Bulge.
So were 600,000 other American troops.
God is not like that though. He’s not distant.
He is the God of Jacob.
The God of the individual.
The God who chooses to know us by name, personally, intimately.
The God who meets us where we are, who shelters us.
