Every so often, I have to take a break from listening to the news. It’s a never-ending jumble of shrieks capitalizing on and celebrating the ugliness of life. It preys on our dreads about our financial uncertainty. It highlights worries about security and stability. It trumpets concerns about our health and safety.
However, neither the newsmakers nor newsmongers have the power to do much to fix any of it. But there is One who does.
There was a moment when Elohim spoke to the chaos and darkness and said, “Let there be.” The chaos obeyed, and the darkness fled to the boundaries He established.
He didn’t stop there. Even today, Elohim steps in and speaks, “Peace, be still,” to the chaos that invades our lives from time to time. He orders light into the darkness that creeps its way around us and our loved ones. He whispers, “I AM,” into the bewilderment that seizes us all too often.
He is not a newsmaker, but the One who makes all things new. He refreshes, revives and restores.
THAT is good news. News you won’t hear at six or eleven.
