I wonder if we sometimes confuse happiness and joy.
Happiness is temporary.
Happiness is bound by circumstances.
Happiness is a shadow.
But it’s enough of a taste to make you crave something that will last longer.
Joy is the result of fellowship with God. No fellowship, no joy.
Consider the parables in Luke 15.
The joy comes from the restoration.
The shepherds were told good tidings of great joy.
It was time. No more waiting and hoping. The savior had been born.
The wise men rejoiced with exceeding joy.
The search was over. It was all true.
See, there is no joy apart from the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Restoration. Fellowship. Joy.
And it will last for all eternity.
